Google is Cleaning Up Search: What It Means for Website Owners

Date: June 12, 2025

Google is making its search results page simpler and cleaner. To do this, they’re removing support for some rarely used structured data types that were previously used to show rich results (those visual extras you sometimes see on search listings).

Why is Google making this change?

According to Google, the structured data types listed below aren’t being used much anymore. Plus, they don’t add much value to search users. By removing them, Google aims to streamline search results and focus on features that matter more to people and webmasters.

What’s Being Removed?

The following structured data types will no longer show special visual features in search results:

  • Book Actions
  • Course Info
  • Claim Review
  • Estimated Salary
  • Learning Video
  • Special Announcement
  • Vehicle Listing

Will This Affect Your Website's Rankings?

No. This update will not affect your website’s position in Google Search. It just means some visual enhancements (like extra snippets or highlights) from those specific structured data types won’t be shown anymore.

Does This Mean Structured Data Is Useless?

Not at all! Structured data is still a great way to help search engines understand your content. Many other types of structured data are still supported and useful—like FAQ, How-To, Recipes, Events, etc.

Final Thoughts

This update is part of Google’s ongoing mission to simplify the search experience. A less cluttered results page means users can find what they’re looking for faster—and that’s better for everyone. If you’ve been using any of the removed data types, no need to worry. Your content will still be indexed and ranked normally.
